I agree with both those decisions!

If you want to try Hatoful Boyfriend before you die there's a free demo that contains most of the game. It leaves out the big plotty route you unlock after getting a few endings, a few side plots, and some other stuff, but it will let you fully play most of the romances and get a feel for if you'll like it enough to pay for it.

NA I definitely recommend this! The game is actually really, really well-written and translated--it's not great just because it's wacky, it's and excellent dating sim/story without qualifiers.

And then definitely get the full game if you like it, because the final route just takes it to another level.
