I'm judging the whole ~het squick~ thing. Like I get that they're super into Tom Hiddleston and that's their top priority, and I get that I have a vested interest in the kind of Crimson Peak prompts that will enable my writing of het incest, BUT STILL, COAL. STILL.

Yeah, I back-button from any letter that uses the phrase "het squick." (And I'm not a het shipper! I just don't call it a squick, it's a dispreference.)

I don't think there's anything wrong with a self-identified queer person saying het is a squick.

would you think it wrong, if any self identified straight person would post about a homo squick?

I don't know why, but this comment made me laugh. I'm not even participating in this argument, but something about that forceful "I think you would!" just really did it for me.

They already do. All the time. We already know we're not the most liked people in the world, thanks.

As an only het shipper, I am super careful about how I phrase anything around my ambivalence to slash. I don't even list it as a DNW, because I'm not against getting it, I just don't squee about it. Even so, I always get called a homophobe. *shrug* whattaya gonna do?

"only ship the characters I've requested in this fandom, please" "only canon ships for this fandom" "no background ships"

if it looks like a homophobe and it writes letters like a homophobe and it feels the need to explain itself on coal like a homophobe....

It's used quite tongue in cheek in that prompt.

The actual DNW is phrased like this:

"I'm not into explicit heterosexuality either. I'm a queer guy, and fandom is a place where I can find stories that have queer content. I'm fine with straight characters, and straight love & sex, but I prefer it more of a sort of background thing and non-explicit."

I don't see the problem.

I didn't click through. The airt made it sound like the phrase "het squick" was used; it wasn't. You're right, nothing is objectionable about what you've quoted. Sorry sorry sorry...

NP! The phrase is used in a prompt but it's pretty harmless in context.

"I adore the love between Adam and Eve and their dynamic of her being the pillar of light, but I am not up for actual sex here. (That damn het squick thing again.)"

It uses it down in the Crimson Peak prompt.

The story is also inherently kinky, and I would not be against a reading of Thomas as submissive sexually as well (that is pretty much canon, right? ;) ), though with the het squick feelings it is hard, I realise. I would be okay with implications, though.

...They gave literally no prompts for Snowpiercer. They didn't even say what they like about the canon, which is pretty fucking baffling, since death and darkfic are in their dislikes, and Snowpiercer is HUGELY dark and has a LOT of death. ?!?!

Yeah that one's a bit weird. Maybe he wants precanon hanging out fic?

How far back? Like, toddlerhood for Curtis?
