You're talking about unmatchable requests (just called pinch hits usually), but I mean unmatchable offers!

The only result of that is being contacted by the mods to add more offers and holding up the matching process, why would anyone do that?

So you can get yourself assigned to the recip you want. It doesn't make *sense* per se but it's hilarious to think about an over-ambitious coalie doing that.

As someone who was once unmatchable, that's not how this works.

No I immediately defaulted because what I had to write was any two guys and I'm a femslash or reluctant gen writer.

It sucked so much and almost soured me on Yuletide forever.

:( I never want to be unmatchable now.

So how does it work, out of curiosity? Must you add a certain amount of fandoms, or would it be enough to just add one (I'm guessing no, judging by your comment)?

You have to offer any on a fandom. You are then matched to that fandom.

So if you aren't an any kind of writer, you're fucked.

What year were you unmatchable? Wonder if it's changed.

Like 2 or 3 years ago? It hasn't changed because that's way too much effort to game it, because it could potentially render someone else unmatchable.

You have to offer any on a fandom. You are then matched to that fandom, but you can't game it to a specific letter on that fandom. Just any letter within that fandom is potentially now your recip.

So if you aren't an any kind of writer, you're fucked.

Oops I read you wrong, sorry! In that case, then the other way around: you deliberately list as few options as you can so you're more likely to get assigned to the recip that you want?

Yeah, it just seems like a lot of effort and constant refreshing of the signup summary so it makes me laugh a little to think about someone actually doing that.
