Longfic: post it in one chunk or in separate chapters?

What should I do coalies? It's getting close to 10k in length.

separate chapters. Then if I have to read it in pieces I know where I left off.

I prefer separate chapters, but from previous discussions I tend to think I'm in the minority on this.

One chunk. It's easier on my fic reader app.

Do whatever feels natural for the flow of the story TBH. 10k isn't too long to be in one chunk if that's what you're worried about.

+1 unless there are chapter breaks inherent to the story, post it in one chunk

+2. I don't personally consider 10k anywhere near long enough to need chaptering, but if there are breaks in the flow at, say, 1/3 and 2/3 of the way through, then you certainly could.

Technically, I prefer one long chunk, but even if you don't post it in one, it doesn't matter. I'd just click the Show Full Work button.

Yeah, I do this too. I hate chapters, because they come up on separate pages and make it hard to go back and reread things when I realise I blanked on a sentence or I don't remember what I just read. As long as the link doesn't force chapter view, I can deal.

But OP can also code in dividers rather than do full on chapters, like be like <<<-*->>> for a scene break rather than a new chapter. That's an option. It's kind of a medium, in between, personal preference option, but it is there.

How many chapters would you be splitting it in? As a general rule of thumb, I don't think a chapter should be less than 2.5k, and I think splitting 10k into four chapters would be silly.
