I have what is VERY clearly a WIP uploaded. It's over 2k, but needs formatting and has about 4k more that should be coming. I'm confident in my ability to finish before deadline, probably this weekend, but I am psyching myself out thinking that the mods will decide to check it and default me when they realize how much tweaking it needs.

This is the year I promised myself I'd stop lurking, do yuletide, and actually try to talk to people in fandom (I have a pretty bad amount of social anxiety so these were all pretty terrifying things for me). Well, having joined chat no one has yelled at me to go away, and I think I've made a few friends!

Lol, I saw that response and rolled my eyes multiple times. She's ~so special~ u gaiz!!!1! She spends sooo much time on AO3, unlike the rest of us plebs, and because she knows the system a million times better than we ever could, we must bow down before her wisdom!

Stupid first-time pinch hitter question

Dumb question for the meme: I got a late pinch hit this year, and I was told by the mods that it was due on the 20th, but my assignment email from AO3 says it's due on the 18th. Which is correct? Will I be defaulted if I don't get it posted tonight, even with the later deadline? I don't want to screw this up!

I've just posted my assignment fic and let me tell you, friends and country-coalies, I am feeling a rush of euphoria. I like it so much. I am so proud of it. I'm 100% sure tomorrow I will find all the things that are wrong with it and then I can't edit and then everything will be terrible lol. But right now I am just all like AHHHHHHHHH!!!

Anyone else feel like this?

I have a story in a canon that has real people but is primarily fictional. Let's pretend it's Forrest Gump, because it's not Forrest Gump: there's a scene where Forrest shakes hands with Nixon but the whole story is made up. I'm writing a scene that talks more about Gump's relationship with Nixon and Pat Nixon, who is not in the movie,* is also in there.

I'm assuming I should not tag for RPF but am unsure enough that I'm asking here.

This happens every year. I keep telling myself it means epic written to the deadline longfic, but I'm pretty sure it actually means I'm matched to someone who just started writing because they hate their prompts. Or a defaulter who is still holding out hope for a gift.

For what it's worth, last year my gift was posted about an hour before the deadline and it was one of the best gift fics I ever received. So maybe you will also get a great gift.
