If you comment, the author is a lot more likely to remember your name for treats later. If you don't, they are left assuming you clicked on it and hated it, and they're less likely to want to write for you in the future because you don't like their work. I mean, if you don't want treats, full speed on and don't comment, but if you do, the only person you're hurting is yourself.

Well, they're also hurting the author, but "you didn't put my name on this fic that I can still read and enjoy and is what I wanted" is a pretty stupid reason to want to punish the author.

I doubt the author will even notice. I don't pay attention to who doesn't comment, other than my recipient.

Well, obviously, it's not like the author is going to feel hurt since they don't know when someone decides not to comment on their fic for a stupid reason. I'm just saying that "the only person you'll hurt is yourself" is not entirely accurate.
