I can understand feeling too mopey to write lighthearted fic but...that's when you just default.

I'm glad the recipient gave their honest thoughts (and they were polite about it, too). The author is even more of a dick for their defensive edit to the author's note. Not mentioning political figures by name doesn't make it any less angsting about Trump, especially when "never Trump" is a tag.

I only hope the author isn't self-aware enough to orphan the fic so I know who to avoid.
