Who's got a fic? Who's posted one?

I've been bad, _coal. I've had to default with less than 24 hours to go before deadline because I didn't want to give my recip unintentional coal. It is technically a finished fic, it's just that I hate it and think that it's shit. Have I made the right choice?

I'm thinking I'll upload this shit fic anonymously after deadline as a YT treat. Not that I think it's much of a treat. It's probably the worst thing I've ever written. I just can't make it work.

...thank you for your wonderful prompts and for being such an amazing + generous recipient (from what I've seen in previous YTs). I just came out of a bad exchange that left me depressed with a sour taste in my mouth, so I'm looking forward to a pleasant exchange with you. I don't care about kudos, hits or comments as long as you like what I wrote for you.

What should I do coalies? It's getting close to 10k in length.

Is that okay or is it against the rules?

Can you not filter Yuletide works by date range? I just got mine, but using the filter <1 day ago in the fandom returns 0 works.

And it's shipfic for an OTP I never thought I'd get in a million years but it's only just nudging over 1k and I have no idea if I'm somebody's half-assed assignment, or if this is a glorious fic someone was excited to write and the suspense is KILLING ME.

In general, I don't have a problem in writing the same fandom as the assigned writer did, buuuut it turns out that when it's the only fic written for that fandom, I DO feel bad.

Get that scene you're going to expand posted.

Dear recip, I know you probably know you're a late pinch hit and that I have another two days to write for you, but I'm still sorry I couldn't get your fic up at the same time as most everyone else's. I hope the wait will be worth it, because I'm taking the time to make you the best fic I can.

And please ignore the treats I've written for everyone else, because it's nothing against you; I just think before I write, and I'm still in the thinking stage and not the turning-out-a-fourth-draft-from-in-my-head stage.

My gift was posted at literally the last minute -- I refreshed my page at 9:00am, and found it there. I guess I should be happy I'm not going to the pinch hit list (would be literally my fifth year in a row), but still. I'm worried I just got coaled.

Anyone remember that idea? Yuletide/Lovecraft? I'm still hoping.

My roommate and I are BOTH lacking gift fics so far.

How many people are actually getting them this year? And what are the reasons people give to get them? Because I don't recall that being a big thing in previous years, but people keep mentioning it this year...

(just a person without a story who's wondering whether they're getting pinch hit or their writer got an extra 24 hours since there's no way to find out the latter)

So I asked someone from the spreadsheet if they had time to beta my (short) fic a couple of days ago, and they haven't answered. I guess I have to go to chat now, but I feel weird doing it post deadline... (My fic is posted and it's ok, not great but not riddled with typos and plot holes, I'd really just love to get a second pair of eyes on it.)

When the hell are they going out? I want to go to sleep, but I want to see the pinch hits.
